We are planning a 1950's/vintage/retro theme wedding. Colors are true red and white. It will be casual, afternoon BBQ with American/Italian comfort foods, cupcake display and a mix of indie rock and oldies tunes. We are having it under a big white tent on my fiance's family farm in NW Ohio.

makeup

since i am doing a retro/vintagey 1950s type vibe, i would love red lips as a pop of color and drama

but i have heard that you need to wear more makeup than normal in wedding pics so you dont appear too washed out..a valid concern for my irish pale skin

so subtle smokey eyes and sheer ruby lips = perfection!

the lovely leighton meester illustrates the look nicely at left

love the vintage inspired earrings and messy updo!

shoooooooooooooes

so i'm thinking red shoes would be soooooo fun for the ceremony and embellished or dressy thongs/flip flops for the reception

decided on the veil!!!!!

ok so after being completely overwhelmed by all the choices in veils...fabric, texture, sparkly or not, length, trim, fascinators, etc. i have finally decided on what i want
since my dress has a standup collar, i will def wear my hair back and a veil thats too long would be terribly claustrophobic
sooooooooooo i like the birdcage style, and the russian netting. found a veil on etsy that sewn to a comb so it can be worn right over the face or over to one side

jewelry

love love love this necklace, affordable and gorgeous and wearable after the wedding

i think crystal and silver earrings to match, perfection!

going to order from tiger lilly when i get paid next week :D

argh!!!! veil decisions driving me craaaaaazy

this is the one i am leaning towards, birdcage veil in netting, 23" length, comes to chin

tulle blusher veil, on etsy.com $20

ok so these 2 are the same veil, also found on etsy.com $20

tulle and brooch bracelets

love love love this! totally going to make my own for the wedding day....i collect vintage brooches anyway and never know how to wear them, plus tulle and netting arent expensive so maybe i could even make 1 for each of the bridesmaids

veil decisions

this is the dress i am getting from david's, the model is wearing a birdcage veil in netting...works well, and i tried one on with the dress too
netting in white, tried on at david's bridal couple weeks ago with the dress i am buying. i like how it looks on me actually...and i am getting a flower fr etsy
diy attempt, tulle with sparkles on a headband
birdcage veil in netting
i like this birdcage style, not in blue

cant decide if i want tulle or netting....shorter birdcage style like the last 2....or possibly chin length

Bridal Bouquet 1st Try-Reds, Purples

need to add more purples for sure but its coming along

white peep toe slingback flats

gorgeous miu miu shoes in nude peep toe

definitely cant afford these, but they are to die for!

Hearts and Roses

found this on sale at Joann for $10, got 2 of them...thinking would be pretty hanging from a tree or up in the tent somewhere

DIY a Birdcage Veil--1st attempt

so after searching the internet for DIY demos and patterns, I found a good idea of a diagram for cutting a pattern.
bought 2 types of tulle from Joann today, a yard of each is more than enough
gathered it piece from one end to the other and attached it to a wide headband from Target

Not bad for a 1st attempt by a sewing novice. I'm quite pleased!

flower for veil from etsy

found this on etsy for a great price, comes attached to an alligator clip

centerpiece ideas

some ideas for centerpieces...collecting vintagey knick knacks..toys, games like old maid and go fish, silly putty, tableware, vases.
and i LOVE vintage handkerchiefs, but kinda stuck on what to do with them....Hankies as table numbers is perfect--love it wrapped around the bottle

thinking the hatboxes would be great looking and great to store the knick knacks I collect...
