We are planning a 1950's/vintage/retro theme wedding. Colors are true red and white. It will be casual, afternoon BBQ with American/Italian comfort foods, cupcake display and a mix of indie rock and oldies tunes. We are having it under a big white tent on my fiance's family farm in NW Ohio.

Decorations

love this idea, its a DIY from Martha Stewart Weddings, of course. Martha's the queen!

Tossing Bouquet

Special Tossing Bouquet from Martha Stewart Weddings...
actually several small bouquets tied with ribbons that have positive messages about life and love on them!
LOVE IT! Now all the ladies dont have to fight for just one bouquet, and I get to keep mine.

Flowers

Bridal Bouquet in reds and purples
Love the vintage brooch!

Centerpiece Ideas

so browsing the wedding website (theknot.com) boards, I got the idea of using 1950's toys and games along with vintage style tableware.

this could be a mix of different items like Silly Putty, Old Maid card type games, tinker toys, tin figurines...

and they could double as favors! which solves the favor dilemma i have been having.

ceremony info

ok well we are having it on September 25, 2010 on my fiance's family's farm in northwest ohio.
probably around 3 pm.
very small, we are inviting 100 ppl and I'm sure not everyone will attend.
its going to be a quick simple ceremony since neither of us is very religious.

Shoes

The Veil

option 1

I want a short, retro chic veil. i think it works with the dress style and the retro/vintage 1950s theme we are doing.
i have it narrowed down to 2 choices, 1st with tulle and the 2nd a more birdcage look w wide netting in the veil.

option 2

The Dress

first things first, this is the inspiration for my dress.
i am actually having it made by a seamstress, who will add some corseting in the bodice for support.
i love the tulle skirt and ballet length, being a former ballerina myself :)
also, since the wedding is in the afternoon under a tent on a farm, i dont want anything floor length that will get dirty.

the beginning

ok well so i got engaged on December 19 2009 to my fiance, Tom.
been planning like mad ever since and got the idea to start this planning bio from theknot.com
